The Furnace Press (FP) team has what may have been its first full editorial meeting - in the pub on Monday night (24th September). Loads of ideas and lots of practical plans for how the FP can be run more easily. Decisions taken were:

[ November 1, 2008; ] There will be two Fancy Dress Discos in Furnace Village Hall on 1st November. The first one - from 2.00pm - 4.00pm, will be for kids (Entry £2, profits to the Furnace Youth Project) and will have a disco and a prize for the best costume.

Inveraray & District Pipe Band has been declared Champion of Champions in the juvenile grade of the Pipe Band Championships in 2008. They won the World Championships in the grade - their first time in it as they came up from the Novice section last year - and they won the grade again at the [...]
[ September 26, 2008; 8:00 pm to 11:30 pm. ] The Furnace Inn is running a Pub Quiz on Friday night (26th September) at 8.00pm for an 8.30pm start. Some people are eating in the pub beforehand and a drink or two won’t be out of the question. It helps to deaden the pain when you don’t know the answers.
